Rates for commercial graphic work
As of 2008, the rates for our graphic work are $50 / hour. Each project may be given an estimated price, but every hour is counted. There are many reasons we do this, but mostly because it's the kind of prices we would want if we were getting work done.
Primarily graphic work is done by Mike Smick and Juri Smick. We also bring in other expert colleagues for programming and field production work. This keeps overhead low so that the hourly rate can stay very affordable.
Website Estimates
Smaller websites with a single design and existing pre-existing logos are estimated at 6-12 hours. Again these are estimates and depend on how much original graphic content and CSS and HTML layout. If copy is not provided for websites, we also offer writing services. Limited photography is also offered.
Medium websites where a content management system is installed with programming customization, medium to heavy graphic work, multiple page CSS styling, image galleries, smaller online shops can range from 30-150 hours. Nearly all websites are programmed to ease redesign and realignment. To do this, we deploy CSS layouts and custom templated cms frameworks such as Drupal, Joomla, Moveable Type, Wordpress and PmWiki. Other CMSs can be used and priced according to customization.
Print Estimates
Business cards and postcards are typically rated at 3-7 hours of design time including revisions. This is based on pre-existing logos. Certain designs, such as heavy layer graphics or 3D can add to the number of hours. SmickWorks can work with any printer whether local or online to print files to correct page and color specs.
Brochure designs can range from 8-30 hours. Brochures are often 3-panel double-sided 8.5 x 11 page size and 4-panel legal size. Clients are expected to provide copy and company photos for brochures and other larger document print work, unless otherwise specified.
Technical Drawings
Floorplans, technical illustrations and other drawings have a wide range of possible hours. SmickWorks does not currently create exact scale CAD drawings or standard electric, electronics or telecom diagrams or blueprints.
A floorplan or diagram may range from 5-25 hours depending on revisions and amount of original content.
